Above the parent material (rocks) we often have soils and these are also shown as polygons. Many soils should be shown in different colors, make a cool map...
In this exercise, you will:
  • Change your soils colors to the UCS standards.

Make the “Soils” polygon layer a multi-colored layer based on the UCS soil designation:

    1. Right Click the layer name

    2. Go to Properties -> Symbology tab

    3. Left Click the “Categories” name in the “Show” box to the left

    4. Left Click “Unique Values”

    5. In the “Value Field” drop down menu, select “UCS_Soil”

    6. Left Click “Add All Values”

    7. Press “Apply to Preview” -> OK
